Fresh off last month’s “Mid-Size Brewing Company of the Year” honors at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival, Karl Strauss Brewing Company has announced that it will open a satellite brewery and brewpub in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, located at the corner of Wilshire and South Grand Avenue.
“The craft beer scene in LA is taking off and we are excited to be a part of it!" said Karl Strauss Brewmaster Matt Johnson. "We are proud of the role we played in helping establish San Diego's craft industry and we are honored to participate in LA's craft beer revolution."
Karl's 12,632 square foot downtown LA satellite brewery will serve as an R&D facility where brewers are given free rein to experiment with new and exciting small batch beers. The site, located at 600 Wilshire Boulevard, will feature a 7-barrel brewhouse, two 14-barrel fermenters, and three 14-barrel bright beer tanks with the ability to brew on-site & release more than 35 different beers annually.
"We have a talented team of brewers who are passionate about what they do," continued Brewmaster Matt Johnson. "Our satellite breweries give them the opportunity to be creative, try out new recipes, and experiment with ingredients and brewing techniques. Oftentimes these small batch beers take home medals at beer competitions, and occasionally we even add them to our core line-up - as was the case with our award-winning Mosaic Session IPA."
The brewpub layout features a tasting room-style bar area with 24 taps for guests to enjoy an ever-changing list of rotating beers that will include their core lineup, seasonal, and limited release brews in addition to the small batch beers brewed on-site. Cold, fresh 6-packs and 22oz bombers will be available in “beer to go” coolers along with draft beer in growlers to be enjoyed at home. The menu features west coast inspired food dishes designed to pair with KARL’s beers.
"We couldn’t be more excited to introduce our beer to Downtown Los Angeles," stated Karl Strauss President and Co-Founder Matt Ratner. "This location is a prime spot for people to get a tasting room experience and enjoy independently owned, freshly brewed, local beer."
Karl Strauss Brewing will open its downtown Los Angeles location to the public on November 21st, 2016. For more information, visit karlstrauss.com.
